Thank You Mother Nature - Get inspired!

As I woke up this morning and looked out the window, I realized that Mother Nature has her game on once again. She is on a design winning streak. The sky is that perfect blue, the trees a multiple hues or green and the sun casts such a great golden shine on everything. Even the dirt on the ground compliments everything she has given us.
Thank You Mother Nature for giving me inspiration everyday, even on a cloudy rainy day she has a way of showing us the greatest color combinations. I was out on a hike a few weeks ago and took a picture of the cutes little purplish gray mushroom. I instantly started thinking how that mushroom could be used to inspire a design. It was the perfect color for a bathroom spa oasis. Complimented by a soft green and cool gray. I could picture candles along side of the tub and plush hotel like towels hanging from brushed bronze hooks.  Cabinetry for ample storage would be in the same tone as the trees all around on the trail, with accents to resemble the White Birch trees.
Who would have ever thought that a simple little mushroom on my hiking trail could lead to such a vivid image of a bathroom.
My point for everyone is take the time to notice what mother nature has given us, and use that in your home. Whether it be designing a room around a mushroom, adding fresh cut flowers to your table or creating a wall of nature inspired photographs.

Find your inspiration and get designing!

Every chair should have a spot for a drink -

The reality is yes every chair or couch should have a spot to put a drink down while socializing in your home; but... what if you just don't have the space to do so?
It would be great if we all had the room for side tables,  a couple thoughts that I have to solve this space issue. Concrete blocks! I know it sound heavy but trust me, purchase a few from your local hardware store. Paint them a great funky fun color or wrap them in fabric (watch your toes). When you need the extra table for guests, stack them up next to the chair and you have an instant table. They are fairly easy to store under the chair, couch or even in a closet close by.
Another idea is extending the window sill to hold a drink ( if the chair is near a window).  Adding a piece of plywood or granite would provide you with a deeper surface. When not in use for drinks you can keep plants in the window.
Sometimes thinking outside the box will take you far and create a design that really functions for you.
Does anyone have any ideas to add?
